Data cabling

Tidy, tested, future-proof cabling for new sites and expansions.

Cabling is the one part of a network that is genuinely difficult to change later, which is why it is worth doing once and properly. The difference between a good installation and a cheap one is rarely visible on day one. It shows up two years on, when somebody needs to trace a port and finds an unlabelled bundle behind a cabinet door.

What it covers

The work, named

Cat6 / Cat6a structured cabling
Specified for what the site will need rather than the minimum that works on the day it is installed.
Office moves and fit-outs
Cabling planned alongside the layout, so sockets end up where desks end up.
Patch panels and comms cabinets
A cabinet that can be worked in, with the panel laid out so the next person can follow it.
Certified and fully documented
Every run tested and the results handed over, along with a labelling scheme that still makes sense when the installer has gone.
When it is worth a conversation

Signs this is the one you need

  • A move, a fit-out or an expansion is being planned
  • Nobody can trace which port serves which desk
  • Wi-Fi is being asked to do a job that wants a cable
  • The comms cabinet has become a knot
  • A landlord or an insurer wants certification for the installation
How it starts

Four stages, same for every service

  1. Review

The free review: what you run, what is exposed, and where the risk actually sits, written down. The document is yours regardless of what happens next.

  2. Plan

A prioritised plan, sized to your business rather than pulled off a menu, with the quick wins named first.

  3. Price

A fixed price in writing, with what is included named: monthly for a plan, once for a project. Nothing starts before you have seen it.

  4. Revisit

The plan is revisited as the business changes, rather than left to drift out of date.

Questions

The things people ask

Can this be done without closing the office?

Usually, and the planning is where that is decided. Work is sequenced around how the space is used, and the parts that are genuinely disruptive are the ones worth scheduling deliberately rather than discovering.

Do we get the test results?

Yes. Certification and the labelling scheme are handed over as part of the job. Documentation that stays with the installer is documentation you do not have.
