Managed IT support
Your outsourced IT department: proactive, monitored and one call away.
Most small businesses do not need a full-time IT person. They need someone accountable when something stops working, and someone watching the things that quietly go wrong before anyone notices. That is what managed IT support is: the helpdesk, the monitoring, the patching and the backups, run as one arrangement rather than a series of emergencies.
The work, named
- Unlimited helpdesk and remote support
- One number and one mailbox for the whole business, answered by somebody who knows your setup rather than reading it off a ticket.
- Device setup, monitoring and patching
- Machines are enrolled, watched and kept current, so a missed update does not become the way in.
- Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace management
- Licences, mailboxes, sharing permissions and the admin settings that decide how much damage one compromised account can do.
- Business email, set up and kept delivering
- Mailboxes on your own domain, moved across from free accounts or an old host, with the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records that keep your mail out of spam folders and stop anyone sending as you.
- Backups, recovery and business continuity
- Backups that are tested rather than assumed, and a written answer to what happens if the office is unavailable.
- Onboarding and offboarding staff securely
- A joiner has what they need on day one, and a leaver loses access on their last day rather than months later.
Signs this is the one you need
- Nobody can say for certain whether the backups are working
- IT is whoever on the team is most confident with computers
- Staff are leaving and nobody is sure what access they still hold
- A customer or an insurer has started asking questions you cannot answer in writing
- The same problems keep coming back and nothing is being fixed at the root
Four stages, same for every service
-
Review
The free review: what you run, what is exposed, and where the risk actually sits, written down. The document is yours regardless of what happens next.
-
Plan
A prioritised plan, sized to your business rather than pulled off a menu, with the quick wins named first.
-
Price
A fixed price in writing, with what is included named: monthly for a plan, once for a project. Nothing starts before you have seen it.
-
Revisit
The plan is revisited as the business changes, rather than left to drift out of date.
The things people ask
Do we have to move everything at once?
No. A typical engagement starts with the free review, which establishes what you actually run and where the risk sits. From there the plan is prioritised, so the things that matter most are dealt with first and the rest follows at a pace that suits the business.
What happens to our existing IT provider?
Switching is a normal part of this work and it is done in order rather than overnight: access and documentation are gathered, the handover is planned, and nothing is cut off until the replacement is in place. There is a guide to the process in the resources below.
Is this only for businesses with an office?
No. Remote and hybrid setups are, if anything, more dependent on the parts of this that are invisible: identity, device management, backups and access control. The work is the same, it is just distributed.
